"Angels in America,’’ the miniseries adaptation of Tony Kushner’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play about the 1980s AIDS crisis, won 11 Emmys, including outstanding miniseries and acting trophies for Al Pacino, Meryl Streep, Mary-Louise Parker and Jeffrey Wright. [i]We were actually watching the mini-series last night when the Emmys' were on. To be honest, I have got so tired of award shows, that I could not sit through another one. I was excited that "Angels" received such accolades and also happy that HBO did so well. They continue to out out such quality programming.[/i]
Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart Threatens To Kill Gays

During the program, a rambling sermon by Swaggart who is trying to rehabilitate himself after an arrest for soliciting a prostitute, the televangelist turned to the subject of gay marriage.
According to a transcript of the program, Swaggart said: "I'm trying to find the correct name for it ... this utter absolute, asinine, idiotic stupidity of men marrying men. ... I've never seen a man in my life I wanted to marry. And I'm gonna be blunt and plain; if one ever looks at me like that, I'm gonna kill him and tell God he died."

Just saw Britney spears video "My Perogative" which is a remake of the Bobby Brown hit. (I think his only hit right?)
I feel like Britney is truly just imitating her idol Madonna as it really has ALL been done before. I am not sure why though, I still have a soft spot for the confused southern bell.

Suspended Sentence For Gay Pride Manure Attack

(Conway, Arkansas) A man who dumped nearly three tons of cow, pig, and horse manure on the route of a gay Pride parade has been found guilty of harassment.
Wesley Bono, 35, had pleaded innocent to dumping the manure on the parade route and in front of the home of a gay couple who organized the Pride weekend in Conway saying that he was "exercising his constitutional right to free speech".
Bono was sentenced to 30 days in jail, but the judge suspended the sentence as long as Bono makes regular payments for restitution and court costs.

(Provincetown, Massachusetts) Waging a war on behalf of out-of-state same-sex couples who wish to marry in Massachusetts is depleting Provincetown's budget.
The predominantly gay tourist resort at the tip of Cape Cod is one of several communities battling the state. (story) Same-sex marriage became legal in Massachusetts in May, but Gov. Mitt Romney invoked a 1913 law which says marriage licenses cannot be issued to couples whose marriages would be illegal in their home states.
The law, which dates back to the period when interracial marriage was legal in Massachusetts but not in most other states, was upheld by a Suffolk Superior Court last month (story) and is under appeal.
Legal fees racked up by Provincetown now exceed $20,000, but a special "Same-Sex Marriage Defense Fund." set up by the town has raised only $220. That is putting pressure on the Board of Selectmen. As the legal fees continue to mount selectmen will have to consider dropping the suit or delay or even cancel some major capital projects, and incur the wrath of year-round residents, many of whom are not gay.
Now, town officials are turning to the tens of thousands of gays and lesbians who vacation in the community to help out, promoting the fund's tax-deductible status.

September 11, 2001 - Two planes commandeered by terrorists slam into New York's World Trade Center. Among the dead is Father Mykal Judge a member of Dignity NY and chaplain to the New York Fire Department. He dies after being hit by debris from the building while administering the last rites to a firefighter. Another plane hits the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. and a fourth plane crashes into a field in Pennsylvania. One of the passengers credited with preventing the plane from being used as another instrument of terror is gay ad agency owner Mark Bingham. The total number of out and closeted gay and lesbian victims will never be known but is estimated in the hundreds. In all, nearly three thousand people die in the attacks.
