Those damn Yellow Ribbons!
I am so tired of seeing those damn yellow or red, white, and blue "support our troops" ribbons on the back of everyones cars. It is unoriginal and what does it do to support the troops.
Honestly, I find it hard to believe all these people are doing anything other than affixing a decal. Where does the money go for these ribbons you can buy in a local 7-11? In some smart entrepreneuars pockets.
Want to show true support for our troops, I suggest the following:
1. Call your congressman and insist that Bush comes up with an exit strategy for Iraq. Enough young people have died for a war that no one still have been able to explain.
2. Gay porn virus plagues Italian Senate
A digital virus featuring hardcore gay pornography shut down the computers of the upper house of the Italian Senate late Monday.
According to media reports, the worm slipped through the Senate's firewall, ensuring that no staffer could access his or her computer without being confronted with images of gay sex.
Efforts to cleanse the Senate's computers of the virus continued through Tuesday.
The worm was of the Rbot variety, which gives control of key systems to a hacker.
The attack followed the firing of Dario Mattiello, an assistant to the upper house's vice president, after photographs of him at a gay nightclub in Rome were distributed.
Mattiello's boss, Sen. Domenico Fisichella is a member of the ruling conservative party, the National Alliance, and a close associate of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.
Italian gay rights activists criticized the firing and have staged sit-down protests outside the Senate building. Franco Grillini, an MP and honorary president of the gay rights group, Arcigay, told the Guardian the incident was "in blatant violation of the most basic liberal values of contemporary Europe."
Italian politics has faced accusations of homophobia before.
Rocco Buttiglione, Italy's first candidate for European Union justice commissioner, came under fire last month after branding homosexuality a sin. He later withdrew his candidacy because of the controversy.
Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant for Sophos, told reporters, "Mattiello's firing has angered some in the gay community, but it's impossible to say yet if it was the motive for this attack."
"Whatever their motives, hackers have shown a bare-faced cheek by planting these homosexual images at the heart of Italy's political establishment," Cluley said.

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from you and understand why you would propose and support a constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage. As you said, "in the eyes of God marriage is based between a man a woman." I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God's Laws and how to follow them.
1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and
female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations.
A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians.
Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?
2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in
Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair
price for her?
3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in
her period of menstrual uncleanness - Lev.15: 19-24.
The problem is how do tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
4. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a
pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9.
The problem is, my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath.
Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death.
Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it?

8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the
hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by
Lev.19:27. How should they die?
9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig
makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two
different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing
garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot.
Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole
town together to stone them? Lev. 24:10-16.
Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

FURTHER UPDATE: This is for real. I just called the protesters out in LA and confirmed it by phone. And I also just read a NEW excuse the military is now offering. The tanks "got stuck at a traffic light," and that's why they just happened to stop in front of an anti-war protest in the middle of a major US city. Uh huh.
UPDATE: I've just read in the comments to the IndyMedia site that someone spoke to some military folks who claim the tanks were "lost" and simply stopping in front of the anti-war protesters to "ask directions." Yeah, right. They were intentionally using deadly force to intimidate peaceful protesters in violation of their First Amendment rights. This is a big story.

The fact that we are even wondering who is the next President of the United States tells me something about the level of stupidity of the American People.
The fact that 100% of the gay marriage (and in some cases, civil union) bans passed tells me that I am completely unwanted in this country. 10 of the 11 bans passed with a very clear majority. The only state where it was close was Oregon, but even they passed the ban. I predict that these bans will only continue until there are only a handful of states that support civil unions. Marriage is still legal in Massachusetts, but if that ever got on a ballot I predict it would be banned there as well.
I feel so out of touch with the rest of America. Here in Arlington, I feel as if I live in a bubble, separate from the rest of the country. Most people here dread another Bush presidency.
But now, we are probably looking to have another 4 years or divisiveness, of a Presidency ruled by terror. And now the religious right has been emboldened to further push their agendas on the American people. The Supreme Court will most certainly trend more conservative with Bush replacements. Many people's rights will be in jeopardy in this country for years to come.
What makes anyone believe that Bush can unite these United States when he has been so successful (and rewarded, apparently) in dividing it?
