Yes another reason to love Katie Couric!
NBC eliminated a line from its application for a popular wedding "contest" series, making gay and lesbian married couples eligible to compete for an appearance.
Beat the Record Temps!
Looks like many gay south of Boston and Boston residents continue to flock to Hull's Kenberma section of the beach to avoid the hot weather. Appears that Saturday June 24th and Sunday June 25th will be no exception due to the forecast.

Jake "Coy" on Brokeback Love Scenes
Jake Gyllenhaal spoke briefly to Entertainment Weekly about how he's "mystified by the hoopla" surrounding his gay cowboy role in Brokeback Mountain:
"I really did approach it like I would any love story. No matter how weird people might think it is or how f---ed up they might consider a certain relationship to be, if there is love there, then that's all that matters." Asked about rumors that the film's love scenes break explicit new ground, he laughs coyly. "I mean...I don't know...Um, all I can say is that they're there." Another mischievous laugh.
Giggle, giggle.
In Hawaii for the Maui Film Festival, Jake also tells the Maui News, "[Choosing a topical story] wasn’t really a conscious move. With Brokeback Mountain, it just moved me deeply. When I read the script, I had never read a love story that was told in the way that one was."
Paris Hilton...NOT?
By now you have probably heard of the Carl's burger ad featuring Paris Hilton that has conservatives panties in a bunch. Well here is a spoof on that video..........may make them reconsider not airing the original. lol

Family of slain soldiers demand answers.....
From Lauren Bowker of Middletown:
"As a loved one of Joseph Tremblay of New Windsor, who died April 27 in Iraq doing what he considered his duty for his country and fellow Marines, I have feelings of such loss and sadness – and also extreme anger.
"The article (on the Downing Street Memo) has helped me understand my anger towards the President and his underhanded, dishonest and dangerous policies in Iraq.
"I urge every American to demand that President Bush be made to answer these allegations regarding what has become known as the Downing Street Memo. I sent in the petition (demanding a hearing) and called all my family and friends, urging them to do the same.
"I am very proud of Joey and the ultimate price he paid for our country, but if President Bush had not lied and been so determined to invade Iraq, Joey would be here with his loved ones, planning his wedding and looking forward to what a young man with such promise could have contributed to the world.
"My question to President Bush is – how do you look yourself in the mirror every morning with a clear conscience knowing that 1,700 young Americans are dead based on a lie?"

Downing Street Memo details she is talking about can be found here:
Poll shows dissatisfaction with Iraq war:
Long after President Bush declared an end to "major hostilities," Americans continue to pay a terrible price for the Iraq war. Now, a British government memo ("the Downing Street Memo") suggests a sickening truth: that the Bush administration was determined to go to war all along -- even if it had to fix the facts to convince the American people.
We've got to act. We must make sure Congress gets the memo because Americans deserve to know the truth. Join me and demand that Congress hold hearings about the Downing Street Memo to determine whether the Bush administration misled us into war:

Hello, I'm Back!
Hello, this is Dave Publisher of GayNewEngland.net and also this blog. While attending Gay Pride Boston this week I was able to meet dozens of our readers and was surprised (very!) to hear how many people missed the Daily Blog. So, I am bringing it back. I promise to be less political but I will not stop talking about the injustices that are going on in this country however.
This blog will be a mix of pop culture, politics, the local gay scene, personal stuff, news, useless facts, and of course to keep you up to date on changes to the main site.
Thank you for your feedback and let's get started!
David
The Blog will be returning.....
